Lonnie & Elaine Schwend

Welcome to the Lonesome Spur Ranch in the big Sky State of Montana, where you are invited to fulfil your dream of a true Western Adventure. The ranch is nestled in the foothills of the Bearthooth and Pryor Mountains.
Nicholas Evans, author of "The Horse Whisperer", found inspiration for his best selling novel whilst visiting the ranch and spending time with Lonnie and his family. The homestead in the novel was based on Lonesome Spur.

Your safety is our prime concern. You will be taught to ride Western style and we will give you the confidence to be safe and secure. We cater for all abilities. Horses will be chosen to match your experience, and you may change horses during your stay. Everyone will soon be catching and saddling their own horses.

Rides can last between 4 to 6 hours and may include early rising if we're branding or gathering cattle.

Hearty meals are served family style at the cookhouse where we produce good home cooked ranch meals. If you have any dietary requirements please let us know in advance of your stay and we will make every effort to accommodate you.
